Sprinkler or Better Watering System?
If I want to make money, I have to plant a lot of seeds but then watering takes up half of my day. Even with the best watering can. Is there a sprinkler or something we can craft to make watering faster? I love this game but the watering is getting old.

It took me a while to realize that this isn't your typical farming game where you plant 5000 crops and get rich. I usually love farming in games and grinding for sprinklers. But it's refreshing to take a step back and consider how to make money otherwise, namely by doing odd jobs for your neighbours. Like, I'll give you 10 wood if you give me 5 nails, or I'll give you 3 fish for a meal and recipe. It's different and probably close to what life in 1701 might have been like.

You can have your spouse or child work for you as a farm helper, but they don't magically water faster, so you're kind of stuck with fields of a certain size.
Somewhere around here i saw a post from the dev that they were going to add some sort of potion that would make it rain so you don't have to water. I got the impression they didn't want to add a sprinkler system because it wouldn't fit the time period, but I don't know what difference it would make anyway since they have other features that don't fit the time period like same sex marriage.

I think some sort of irrigation pipe from your pond to your garden would be cool, powered by a windmill or something.

The potion to make it rain was just introduced in this latest update. It looks like it might ignore holidays though.
i would rather see some npc helping system

There already is; your family. Your spouse and children help on the farm.
For now the quick solution is the rain potion sold by the witch while they work on adding another way to keep crops watered. Sprinklers not likely if they want to keep it historical in some sense. Maybe an irrigation trench of some kind, or hired farmhands.
If you don't want to spend half the day watering you can always turn the energy off so you don't have to sleep, that's what I did, I water and do the farm chores after midnight so I have the full day to run around to the shops, fish and mine. The only time I sleep is when I want to pass some time.
Hmmm maybe we could build like a water way that we can dig from the pond? One row could keep the plot watering up to 2-4 adjustment from that water way? I mean ... irrigation system do exist back then.

I second that, irrigation systems are over 4000 years old. The old kingdom in egypt for example, so it would fit the time period.
I addition why not take some inspiration from similar games like Dinklum and just add a better watering can that waters 3 squares instead of one? Even that would be a huge advantage so that you don't have do waste half of your day watering crops.
Tedious gameplay mechanics aren't rarely a good idea for good sales numbers.

bigger range for the watering can and/or a craftable waterpump you can put near the fields for irrigation would be cool

I agree. I don't understand why the devs think clicking and holding down the action button to expand the watering can range/other tool ranges at will is 'outside' the time period. It's a small dev team, though. Maybe they just don't WANT to code it in?

I agree. We can send our children off to be apprenticed to other professions, it would be a nice feature to add the ability to hire apprentice farmers to help out on our own farm.
Whether or not there are additional irrigation things added, I quite like that the watering is done by people. I can't speak to what people in this time period in this general area used or did, but maybe if it was easier to hire people, as someone mentioned, and keep them hired in a more consistent way, that would work, too?
You can buy "Rainbow Sheep" or "Dark Sheep" in "Witch Coven", so that you can make "Special Cheese ($275)". If you choose "Harvest", you will get "Double Output", which means that this unique goat will bring you 500 yuan income (per day). Of course, you need to build a ranch and a cheese maker!

Rain potion is cheap and easy to make and would be a perfect solution if only it were raining on your farm (like a cloud or something) not the entire town.
As much as I love rainy day music, I want to enjoy sunny weather from time to time :)
Also since we never know the forecast it feels a bit wasteful to use a potion - what if it rains tomorrow anyway?
