All my children left home
So I'm currently still playing on my first character and I'm curious/worried if my character dies, do I get to choose between my children that I birthed or if I have to try and adopt some new children to take over then?
Any help from anyone who's ahead of me that may have experienced this. I would be grateful for advice.

Did you kick the kids out when they became adults or they moved out on their own? Just curious how your household doesn't have a grown child still at home for you to choose to take over.

They both married and moved out

Did they choose to move out with some sort of dialogue, or you moved them out? Sorry for so many questions, I just haven't had this scenario happen yet and am curious what the options are for family members and how much agency they have to decide for themselves to stay or move out. If your main character dies, I'm assuming you can take over as one of them even if they're moved out, but they'd have to move back to the farm, maybe?

Yes, even if they live in another place you can choose to play one of them.
If you go to my profile you can see in one of my screenshots what the window looks like when you have to take the choice.
If you choose one of them who is still a child, the game automatically makes him/her an adult.
And yes, you start again on your farm.

Thanks for all the answers and information on the choices you can have with your children, that's great! I made a post about the relationships and family dynamics and what I would suggest as additions to that dynamic. I have only played as far as 2 children, one an adult and I had planned on keeping them on the farm. But now that I know you can move them out and then later still choose them as an 'heir' to play in the next generation, I'm less hesitant to move them out.

In one of my games I chose to play as one of my nephews who lived in another house with his parents.
Anyway, I'm glad I could help you. Have fun :)))
