Ok, I have to ask.
I own an original ps2 copy and I have an emulator with legally ripped (from my own still working ps2) bios files.

Is there ANY reason for me to get this?

I'm not seeing any new stated features, and the trailer doesn't look any better than when I play it on an emulator.

I'd say nope, if the game looks like the current trailers show, it actually looks uglier than the original game. I still have hope this is gonna change though, so let's wait a bit.

It wouldn't take this long to release a straight PS2 port, the devs have experience upscaling old games, for example: https://codeglue.com/portfolio/corpse-party-blood-drive/

I got actually interessted in the game and didn't owned it before, but hearing some say it might be worse than before is still not exactly great.

I hope they make at least a good PC version of it, because I'm starting to believe I can even expect a bad full screen mode.

Are the developers active here?

If you've never played it, this might be the only way to legally do so. I would heartily recommend this game as it's very, VERY good. That being said, if it is a bad port then maybe wait till it's on sale.

As for me, it may not be for me due to the fact that I have an original copy and the means to emulate it (legally, I can't stress that enough). I have a general rule that I require something of substantial new material when I buy a game a 2nd time. Either that or I'll wait till it's on a HUGE sale.

That sound like a good enough reason. I would prefer a few new bits too if I'm buying a game the second time, either that or they were really old already like something from PS 1 or N64 I guess.
Then again in that chase it should be looking quite nice anyway, I think I remember games that looked really badly because of how good the console/ PC was? Is that a thing?

Okay I guess I can wait that month to know what's going to happen.

I just wish more developers would also be somewhat active here.

whoever says this might be worse then original is really reaching. Like this game isn't even out yet and already people are saying its bad.
Here's the thing, if anybody is expecting for new content to be added in, they are gonna disappointed. I mean as far as i know/read up on the game was never advertised to be anything more then just a touched up release of an older game which i am quite fine for.

If you can't wait for this release and you already have a ps2 i do recommend getting it on ps2 as its a pretty great game but if you can wait a bit then i would suggest you wait and get it on whichever platform you prefer.

I'd say odds are it'll be similar to Phantom Brave PC especially since they're releasing together on the switch. They added achievements and cards but that's all I think.

PB had the benefit of having already been ported to other systems, the wii and the psp versions have the widescreen/fullscreen options, and the sprite filter options already thanks to that.
Its pretty telling that even the Japanese trailer NIS just dropped on youtube still shows soul nomad to be running in the wrong aspect ratio, this is so low effort its ridiculous.

I don't mind 4:3 so long as i can have crisp sprites. But the price is the main factor for me
