How do I start a fire for longer than 1 turn?

When I use the lighter, I start a fire at my feet that lasts for 1 turn. I tried using the lighter on a tile that had a plank on the floor but that didn´t increase the burn time.

I´d like to use a few turns at a time to cook food without burning through my lighter charges like crazy. How do I do this?

Nevermind I just figured it out. You have to click on the fire icon and then you can add fuel

It's also good to know that adding fuel increases the temperature of the fire. This can save your life if you are freezing to death.

Is it possible to add too much fuel and start an uncontrolled fire this way?

I think you only have to worry about this when throwing molotov cocktails. I've had campfires with a strength of up to 5 and they never spread to other tiles or caused injuries.
