Obtaining Vegetable Seeds

Is there any way to get seeds from a tomato, onion, etc? I know you can find seeds, or can harvest a garden to get some seeds, but it would be far easier if you could just cut up a tomato and get a seed. I guess it might be too easy and ruin balance.

You can find some in groceries (higher chance) or houses (really low chance, though).

Other is to harvest from existing plot in housing area. Or ask from fortified save house.
