I just wanted to share something I noticed. I think you only get seeds if you harvest vegetables when they are fully mature. If you harvest early (i.e. when they are less than 100%), I think you obtain the vegetables, but not seeds.
If you find vegetables growing early in the game, it can be worth marking the location and coming back to harvest them later.
Growing speed too slow, fertilizer too expensive compare to fishing bait
Compare to chefs, which abilities are also related to satiety, they halve AP used in cooking, double dishes result, boost status time for all cooked dishes. You will found farmers are over all worse than chefs, just because farms are uncommon, and gardening is not an early game option.
Hopefully DEVS could adjust farmers to become more unique in farming:
-If they could use AP caring crops to boost grow rate, per day I guess
-Whenever they harvest / plant seeds, the crops will gain a status boost, which can further cooked in the other meals (E.G. meatballs could be further used in pasta/fried rice, they keep the STR boost in the dishes)
-They could find seeds / fertilizer while walking, just saying
We could only choose maximum 4 occupations in one run, currently farmer are in the bottom tier surely.
Yeah agreed. I just completed a run with cook using the same strat mentioned in my original comment. Found a park, fished a lot, and incidentally was able to make good use of a few farms on this run too. The cook's traits make the food super valuable to the traders, so yeah it's def a better class all around than the farmer.
I would honestly still enjoy doing a run or two with the farmer just for the hell of it, if they made it so that you could reliably get a few crops going really early, like giving you seeds to start with. That would help a lot. Would still be worse than the cook, but a fun alternative.
From 5 runs i also found that finding seeds is the main run ender (I played on permadeath), finding farm is also very very unlikely, usually found it too late like 6 or 7 location away from the spawn location. Second run ender is the abysmal combat capabilities of the Farmer class itself (scrounging weapon is hard) and wooden spear are simply too little use without adding Dexterity stats which if you add takes away from Combat/Strength stats and the Third one is water/fire starter item.
Yeah the class is basically the equivalent of choosing no class at all. On my runs, I couldn't even find any farms at all to get seeds from, even after surviving like 20 days and exploring half the map. I know in this case that was bad RNG, but a class that requires really good RNG to even function at all is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
