Every time you play a Mario game, it is still Mario, but they manage to innovate the formula and make it a new experience.
HLB isn't looking promising in this department either
But it doesn't have enough content, and it has technical issues.
I want to see how they plan to make this game different. The gameplay is too close to Risk of Rain 2 or even Eldenring, which are both a lot better than this right now.
I am skeptical the devs can fix it without significantly reworking the game. Typically when that happens, the devs will just start a new game instead and put the old one on life support.
The fact that you compare this to those 2 games says enough. You don't really understand how it plays I guess. Of course it has SOME similarities, but that is like saying that Devil May Cry is like Elden Ring... This just seems like crying because you did not get Hyper Light Drifter 2. Deal with it.
You're actually stupid. Alx Preston already said this game is a souls-like. If you think I'm wrong, then you also think the head dev is wrong apparently. They priced HLB the same as how much it costs to buy a vastly superior game of the same genre
but i agree with the ror2 comparison. i think HLB's formula is cool and i liked what i saw from my friend playing but the performance/optimization/settings are horrible, and im not convinced its very strong at making its formula 'remarkably' fun just yet
It has some aspects of a souls-like, yes. But plays extremely different. Maybe check it out yourself first before calling people stupid. Comparing this to Elden Ring is like comparing apples and bananas.
