Hyper Light Breaker

Hyper Light Breaker

My thoughts on the game
This game is way more difficult and unfair than drifter. Like why make such a breathtaking world and them spam like fifteen enemies at the player every two seconds. I mean call me a crybaby for not liking the difficulty, but this game makes Rain World a game I completed and fun with look like child's play. The fact that this game is not accessible for keyboard players is absurd and I think some the controls need fixing.

Having the dash key connected to the hoverboard key is such a recipe for disaster, I can't count how many times I accidentally pulled up the hoverboard when I meant to dash. Second of all add more like health power ups, Hyper Light Drifter was generous with those, they have health powerups freaking everywhere. Finally I don't like how I have to actively parry, in Hyper Light Drifter all I had to do was swing at a projectile and that would automatically deflect it.

P.S I don't care if this is Sweet Baby Inc. tainted y'all are a bunch of anti-woke edgy 14 year olds so piss off.

In short, its a game with potential but alot of problems, fix the controls, add more health power up locations, and this game is perfect.

How many runs in are you? Have you unlocked pieces of the meta progression skill tree? Like med packs and such.
I'm only 4 runs in and I don't want to complain but IMO it does feel really difficult. I think there's something I don't understand how they work though:

1) You get a gun in the first room on first run, but all subsequent runs/respawns you don't get one off the bat...is that intentional? I did see there's some spots on the map with gun icons is the intention that every respawn run you need to go and find a gun in the wild?

2) There's something called a rail, I assume it's the robot. Looking at the description it says it does damage...but it never attacks anything. I also checked the controls nothing about activating that...does rail attacks come later or is an unlock?

I thought the rail was the gun.

Are you typically a fan of challenging arpgs? Like souls etc.

I'd give it more runs if I were you and see what I can unlock in the meta progression skill tree.

Yeah I've beaten every Dark Souls game and Elden Ring. I'm finding this game more difficult.

Okay well I think that's a good thing though becasue, once you unlock the meta progression elements it will get easier and easier, possibly trivialize it.

Idk if you've played other roguelites but I always end up very disappointed with how easy they get.

Hopefully the insane difficulty at the start here, keeps it from being tooo easy.

Gonna need more runs and stuff to see.
Played and beaten plenty of rogue-lites and this one feel off difficulty wise. I think it's going to be an issue as it's really punitive. There's other issues too, like long loading times, the respawn screen is too slow, etc. It's EA though so I'm hoping they tune things a little.

Yeah but you are only a few runs in. Haven't unlocked progression stuff. Keep unlocking. You need at least 10 runs upwards of 20 runs before you start seeing what the progression does to the game.

Hell you may not even have your free resurrections yet. lol the medkits.

The major problem is it feels very very bad. You get hung up on geometry, movement is WAY too slow. Getting up small inclines is annoying.

An action game, especially a rogue like needs to feel good in your hands. It can't feel bad even from second one.

This feels bad. They're a great team so it saddens me to say but this game is fundamentally flawed from the ground up.

It needs to feel great to move in an action game. Every great entry has this from Nuclear Throne to ROR2.

This feels like an action game made by people who don't play action games.
