Honestly, I completely respect other people's likes and preferences, the genre just isn't for me. I like a sense of persistent progression without restarts. Just my own liking. I want new action rpg games like this, just without the roguelike elements.

Looks like it is and I'm bummed out too. I'm a 90s kid and I don't miss the days when I used to boot my Sega up every day to start over from scratch and I'm not sure why people like it now. I don't hate the rogue-like as a game mode on the side where you could buff your character beyond the base game/campaign but I don't like when games are based solely on that mechanic.

Completely agree. I remember all this too and it was very uncomfortable. Quite a strange genre. But since good games are very hard to find, have no other variant then to try everything plus-minus good looking in hope. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
