Black screen on game start?

When I start the game, the first cinematic plays fine, then I'm booted into the menu, where upon selecting all of my video and audio options, I press "New Game", which sends me into a black screen with the option to fast forward, but nothing happens when I do. There is only a floating cursor and "fast forward" in a black void.

I fixed it, I just validated the integrity of game files and it found 6 files that had for some reason not been installed.

I have the same problem, how did you installed the missing files?
