Cheaters in the leaderboard?
Only shallow - superkinetic, 3rd chapter, last stage, first place is sitting at 0.00.616. There is just no way someone could do that legitimately. Is there a way to remove this time?

Oh, he's also on top of the Mountain and Sprint as well, all of them are below 1 second

Get all the user input, make it validated on server before you load the result onto the leaderboard, sort out the cheating and TAS trash. Come on, make the competition satisfying for all the top sweats.

agreed. and not sure what that dude gets out of cheating. yeah he's number one on some stages, but anyone who sees that score will know it's not legit. hopefully they sort it out. i don't go for top times in any other game, but this one has got me hooked chasing 100ths of seconds.

This happens with any speedrun game with leaderboards. Better get used to it.

Yeah, the only way to kind of avoid it is by playing on inferior hardware like the Switch or PS4/5. In the case of Switch. leaderboards is locked behind the online subscription pay wall. Which either one of those costs isn't worth it and you're better off just playing with the cheaterboards on the PC.

I guess one other alternative is using speedrunning sites. They're vetted scores and only cheated for some of the time. Though the devs here do occasionally ban cheaters from the board. I've seen a few scores deleted.

Obviously not enough, I've seen less than 1 second times on most leaderboards. Even 1m+ diamond stages.

Same here. On every leaderboard I've seen people are getting >1s. Maybe implementing VAC would be a good idea?

Not really. It is easily broken, the detection methods for it are archaic and well known among cheat makers. Only people it will stop is cheat engine users I guess? Which is better than nothing, but the trade offs aren't that great for something that is just slightly better than nothing.

Not really sure what cheating the leaderboard achieves tbh.
I guess it's just to upset the people who do it legitimately. Kind of sad, really.

But a VAC thing really can't be done like Soren said, games like TF2 and such have it and it's still riddled with bots and cheaters.

Yea leaderboards are full of cheaters. Just go for your personal best and upload it to youtube, the leaderboards are broken .

Sadly, that's the case with pretty much any game that has a global leaderboard. Maybe it's better on Switch, but on PC I'd just focus on my personal times and not worry about it. This was a problem with the original Mirrors Edge back when it released so many years ago, it's sadly just what players will do just to see their name at the top.

Leaderboards is full of cheaters, unlucky.

Personally i've just been adding people to my friends list for a more inclusive leaderboard where we can resonablly assume no one is cheating

i really dont see how hard it would be to make an input file (like a demo in an old game like doom, im pretty sure thats how the ghosts are made), and run that in a simulation on the server to make sure it matches up with the submitted time. thats how trackmania does their leaderboard, and yeah people still cheat but its not 1 second obvious ♥♥♥♥

Original trackmania anticheat system has it's own flaws, it can't detect slower gameplay (slowing game down with a cheat engine for example), they are playing on their community driven competition patch, so i'm not sure that it's the best option. Personally i'm just trying to compete with the time i can find on youtube, AKA time that has been verified with a video. It's not a fix, obviously, but there's not much that WE can do.
