Tried the demo. solid experience except one thing
Which is the jump, kinda floaty to me.

I get it that it is necessary for long range jump or easier navigation while airborne, however, in terms of hopping near the ground it felt slow. Obviously asking you guys to tweak the jump falling speed is impossible as it would effect the every level design, however, I think having another button that allows you to glide down faster should be much better and to keep the speed... unless it is available on later levels which is out of demo showcase.

It's in the demo. It's called Stomp.

No, Stomp card is for drastic height drop, what I wanted is just the ability to glide down a bit faster with normal jumps due to its floaty nature, like improved hopping.

so like, you want a button that just makes you fall, like holding CTRL while in the air makes you move straight down? I don't see why that couldn't be added. increase player gravity by 20% when pressing CTRL in the air or something...

Yes, you get what I meant, tho I wouldn't call it move straight down, just glide down toward the direction you're heading.

For me, the jump just feels over-floaty, say you want to jump past like a small fence in the middle of a straight line, yet the jump keeps you hover in the air quite longer than necessary (plus you lose speed), and it is possible you touch the ceiling wall as well > sudden stop > lose the pacing. And that's what I have faced when you try to go past like tigher windows for example. Thus I just want something to tone it down a bit manually, so that I can hover when I want and glide down when I don't want to.

Maybe have it so by quickly tapping it goes into a fast little hop, while holding down space will have you stay in the air for longer?

That is actually a great solution too, still, it is easy to relate to "jump is not consistent" if not done properly.

I noticed the floatiness too, though it only gave me a problem once or twice

I totally agree. I think the fall gravity needs a button to speed it up. Just a smidge of a boost so as not to invalidate the Discard of the SMG

I feel like the floatiness is intentional, it makes points where you need to be in the air more maneuverable while making it the slowest option for getting around unless you perfectly sync your landing so you land as soon as possible when jumping up. Basically, try to avoid jumping unless you need to, it slows you down like crazy.

Which is why there should be another button for gliding down bit quicker, so that you can still be floaty when you want and when you don't want to. We are talking about a game whose main focus is about speedrunning and optimizing playthrough, so what is wrong with improving it a bit more to make the experience smoother, faster and less redundant? Just "don't use it unless I need to"? That is obvious, but why should we stop with just that when we could do better?

Some kind of short-hop would be awesome. The game gives a lot of control to the player in terms of approach and action. The jump being a set height and duration just feels out of place in that regard.

Wouldn't this make it a lot easier though? I thought the whole point was finding the right times to jump and the right times to not. It's like figuring out braking zones in a racetrack.

The floatiness is there to penalise you for being in the air.
