I really want to play it but everyone is stuck at infinite loading.....
Please, have some kind of speedrun mode that skips all cutscene and story. Whoever wrote this, can't write. I want to go deaf by gunshot every time somebody talks. It's as bad as Borderlands writing.
- My biggest request: I think it needs an in-game framerate limiter. Only having Vsync isn't ideal because it adds input lag. With the game running at over 400fps on my rig, it's making my GPU unnecessarily hot. I typically don't like using external framerate limiters such as RTSS or Nvidia control panel. Most games should include framerate limiters in-game, imo.
- For a game about speed, those 'Rank up' and 'Unlock' animations really slow down the pacing a lot after every single level. I don't know if it's just me, but I'm just itching to get to the next level, spamming Mouse1 to speed up the results screen.
- I like the color coded card system. It gets to the point where you don't have to look at the card name/icon at all and you can memorize each card's abilities by color. Same with switch switching cards in your hand; you never have to take your eyes off the action and can just focus on the color of card in your peripheral vision. I think it's great.
- Only issue I can see by the color coded system; Maybe adding a colorblind option would help some others. I'm not colorblind, but I imagine adding such a setting could be useful.
- A VERY minor complaint, but being able to hit spacebar to skip tutorial cards would be nice. Besides having to move your mouse cursor to the 'Continue' button in the bottom left.
Pretty much agree on all points. I can also add that:
-I did notice some input lag in this game, not too conspicuous but enough for me to feel it. It's fine for all intents and purposes.
-Skippable story with one button would be nice, i mean. Who won't speedrun a speedrun game? ;)
-A level select without going to the jobs would be nice aswell. Or maybe it is in the game and i'm blind.
Did set some world records but most of em are probably gone by now :)
-Levels made perfect sense in the demo, at no point was I slowed down by trying to work out which weapon to use. I only stopped due to missing a jump or a mistake.
-Really great cast of actors. Lots of famous voices.
My biggest issue and while it's a minor one.
- The writing is a bit too comical. I do like tongue-in-cheek humour but sometimes the jokes are a bit too "internet culture" for my tastes. I found myself skipping the dialogue as it didn't amuse me.
Still the voice actors are great. I just wish the writing was a bit wittier.
Runs like butter and has no pillarboxing on my setup (And the UI seems to be fine without many issues, Both things which are great).
personally, I intensely dislike this style of progression and very much hope it isn't mandatory in the final game. simply completing every stage should be enough of a challenge in order to get a proper ending; you can add whatever optional bonuses you like for speedrunners, but effectively forcing the player to replay already completed levels always feels to me like a cheap and artificial way to increase playtime and difficulty
EDIT:
Saw other comments, pretty much agree with Leot what he says and why do "Visual novels" not have full voice acting during normal gameplay, it just first word or
sigh but during main story it has voice acting for whole conversation
It could do without the portrait of the main character and the vertical scan lines at the edges of the screen. The black fog at the bottom of the screen is more a minor complaint, but I think an option for the UI to just have your cards, health, remaining demons and the timer without this extra visual noise would be great. It's already fairly clean, but it does have some unnecessary clutter.
Other than that, game plays and runs fantastic, although I did notice my game having some hard stutters after many retries of the same level. A restart fixed it.
I was also going to give these two things as feedback. The UI outside of gameplay is functional but just kind of slow. I wish I could navigate through the menus faster, in general.
I also found it annoying when I accidentally clicked to go to the next level within a mission and then couldn't go back immediately.
But one place where I think the game could use a slight pause is at the very start of the level. I think a short delay, maybe around 0.5-1s with a quick animation and sound, where you can see your starting position before actually having the timer start would be good. I think going from the menu and hitting space to retry to the level starting is a little abrupt.
Writing is weeb cringe and everyone older than 14 should skip the cutscenes
