This how tag in real life works as well. Some tricks used to overcome this in real life are cornering people and teamwork. 2 monkeys will always be able to tag 1 monkey. You can't say tag in real life is broken. It's highly competitive.
Not quite let me explain better. It wouldn't happen after a round like that.
Right now a round ends after everyone is tagged. During that time period everyone is a lava monkey (I guessed this lasts 5 seconds, not the no movement time). I'm suggesting that anyone holding their hand up right before a round starts during the post-game time will get priority over randomly being selected to be a lava monkey next game.
So for example: You would hold your hand up at the end of a round until the lava monkey is picked. Doing so will increase your chances of being picked to be the lava monkey. If your the only one holding up your hand then you get picked as the lava monkey. If no monkey holds up their hand to volunteer then the round starts exactly like it does now and someone is picked at random.
One thing I have noticed is people don't see tagging players as 'winning'. Only not getting tagged is precieved as winning and eventually everyone 'loses'. I think this is because there is nothing competitive about having speed boosts, but also that if people could volunteer to be lava monkey they would take pride in winning. A competitive player who volunteers to be a tagger would see how quickly they could get the whole server tagged.
