Is HyperLobby still active or has everyone moved on?
I have probably played hundreds if not thousands of hours in IL2 1946 off of my retail DVD. My main question is after all these years and more recent releases in the IL2 series is this game still active in HyperLobby?

Also is the Steam version moddable? Since most Steam versions use a different exe than retail I've had problems with this in the past.

Also had problems with the water disappearing at higher altitudes on newer hardware and was wondering if this was fixed in the Steam version.

I don't think it ran very well when it was released which turned a lot of people away from it. It seems to run well now and the planes handle really well.

IL21946 still seems active although the days of 400 and 500 people are likely over. The lobby is now strangely quiet. Gone are the arguments between players and whose country was best in WW2. Its almost like a ghost town.

I remember logging onto HL and seeing over 800 players on at one time. The least you would see is 150. 2002-2008 those were the years. I really miss them.

Yes. Some people I flew with there back in the day have sadly passed away and most have moved on to other games. I went to HL from the old Microsoft Zone where we played the heck out of CFS 2. Ah the zone.....was a fun place for a long time.

Yes it is.

True, some of the dedicated regulars have passed onward. Some of those that discovered the sim at a young age have matured and have responsibilities with limited time to enjoy IL-2/1946.

HL population is really a matter of timing. There are still a few dedicated regulars that host a variety of game modes from historical co-ops, team based dogfights, One-on-one dogfights, fun furrballs and even fantasy racecourses ingeniuosly created from FMB objects.

Hyperlobby will generally have higher numbers on weekends and During the evenings and depending on the time zones, different maps & theaters. Every once in a while, a past regular player/host shows up to say hello and maybe even host or fly.

Some are still creating new missions and occasionally need some live players to test out new missions. Maybe a good time to ask experienced mission makers a question or two..

Regarding some graphical issues, Depending on your hardware. IL-2/1946 may function better rollling back to older drivers. Tho I've never had the water vanish at high altitude.

Though I doubt it, the upcoming 4.13 patch from Team Daidalos 'may' address some issues. The latest version improved and cleaned up a little of what is rendered from a very dated game engine.
