Escape key not working

Can't get to the menu when in missions, works fine everywhere else.

And before you say anything, no, it's not a problem with the config file. I've checked it a dozen times and it says Escape=activate

Any thoughts?

update: None of the keys work on my keyboard, it's happened since I plugged my gamepad into the computer in an attempt to use that instead of a joystick
