However, the later "IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad" series supports VR headsets (but not touch controllers). Additionally, VR support for "IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dove - Blitz Edition" was in progress a couple of years ago and it may have been implemented into that sim as well (?).
I tried using VORPX, which does convert 2D games to a VR image, but the result was unusable in practice. I saw improper cockpit scaling, no head tracking, weird cloud rendering, smoke columns not aligned with their source, etc. Also, it made me nauseous within minutes.
