Update to 4.13.4

The update 4.13.4 has been added to the Steam version. For a while, it is optional - please select 'beta' in the Steam properties of the game, Betas tab.

Please report update problems (if you think they were caused by a wrong update).

In the previous update, conf.ini was replaced and this caused problems for many people. Currently Steam should consider it as user config, so an existing file shouldn't be replaced during the update. However, if you can suggest good default values for this file for new users (ideally a complete file with safe values good for most people as a start), please post them here.

I tested this by updating through Steam to v4.13.4 (1 GB dl) and then rolling back to v4.12.2 (33.7 MB dl). No issues and both version ran great.

May I also suggest you post your announcement in the IL2 1946 'news section' so it shows up on the game channel :)

The devs haven't said when they will do that unfortunately. It's only been a few weeks since the devs made v4.13.4 available on Steam (after I gently persuaded them on their official forum) .

Since GOG is currently at v4.13.4 and has been since mid-2017, I would assume the devs will update the main branch on Steam after a short time so everything is consistent, and then move v4.12.2 to the 'betas TAB'.

Nice, I didn’t even know this game still got some attention after all these years. Maybe we can get some loot boxes and a battle royal mode in the future

If you're modding IL-2 1946 you should be doing it outside of Steam, simple as that. Select the beta branch to go back to v4.12.2, then copy the entire directory to another location and use that for your mods.

I don't blame this company for the update, i blame Valve for allowing forced updates, we've already been screwed this week by Rockstar. I can only imagine what is instore for this product.

yes and screwed we were. Thanks for the forced update that broke a perfectly modded 4.12.2 its a shame and really heartbraking. IL2 became a big part of my life over the last 15 years. thats so fked up. I have to invest another week at least to restore my game... NO thanks steam.

Once again...if you're modding IL-2 1946 you should be doing it outside of Steam, simple as that. This is the recommended way of doing it as mentioned by admins at the mods sites too. I have two separate installs, one for VP Modpack and the other for BAT modpack, again, both located outside of any Steam installation directory.

Select the beta branch to go back to v4.12.2, then copy the entire directory to another location and use that for your mods. It works outside of Steam, there's no need to even have Steam running for a modded version to run properly.
