how to update il2 to 1.14.4
any ideas

You must be on 4.13.4m to update to 4.14

Download this (1.8 GB):
IL-2 1946 4.13.4 to 4.14.1 Upgrade[www.mission4today.com]

Be warned, the patch will complain about packet capturing software if you use it (such as WireShark that utilizes NPcap libraries). So you must first uninstall those to let the patch run its course, afterwards you can reinstall them.
