In both methods, opentracker is required to convert the HMD action into the input of the trackir.
There are two ways to do with the video:
1. Use the virtual desktop software to convert the game screen into a ball-like screen and display it in the HMD. This is a non-stereo mode.
2. Use D3Dwarp to convert the image rendering mode of il2 to D3D, and then use the common settings in vorpX to render il2 in the HMD, which is a full stereo mode.
In my test, the second mode obviously has the best effect, but there is a lot problems.
1, displacement mapping between opentracker and HMD, it seems difficult to achieve 1:1 effect.
2, When il2 1946 processing trackir input, it dosn't use raw input data. The game made some auxiliary displacement, to help you peep backwards, in HMD, this auxiliary displacement makes the player fells bad.
3, When using d3d warp dll and vorpX rendering il2 in HMD, there are many abnormal display problems
4, the setting before starting the game is very troublesome.
5, As far as my experience in BOS, the air battle of il2 under HMD is very exhausting, especially facing some old players of il2 1946, they are master of dog fight.
