I installed the BAT mod, it just doesnt launch

I installed everything, when I open the selector and choose any mod I click on Start IL2 and it just doesnt open! Help me

first thing to try is restart the PC. second try launching the game from steam or the il-2fb.exe itself. next try this, it's from the manual i doubt it will fix it but never know.

ADDENDUM:
We have experienced different results with regard to the High-
Res True Colour mod Dll’s, necessary for many of the newer mod
features.
The first set BATDLLS-01 is installed by default. The second
set BATDLLS-02 will resolve issues for systems that do not get
on with the first set: Simply UnZIP to your main Il2 Install
and over-write.

another easy thing to try is, check your anti virus and make sure it did not decide a piece of BAT was tastey. if so see if you can add it to exceptions and try to restore it

Just for your own reference: After running the new B.A.T.
Installer this is the size and content of your 5 new SFS folders
and 4 new Mod folders. These folders should now be inside your
main Il2 1946 directory:
BAT00 - 20.30 GB 93 Files
BAT01 - 3.75 GB 26 Files
BAT02 - 2.80 GB 19 Files
BAT03 - 13.60 GB 75 Files
BAT04 - 6.20 GB 42 Files

not sure if them sizes are still accurate, but might be able to compare your file sizes to these.

yeah I think I've been trying on and off for a good few years now and have just given up haha. Moved on to battle of stalingrad now. Given up content for graphics

Take a look at what is your version . IL-2 Sturmovic 1946 must NOT be patched beyond version 4.12.2 . Luckily the Steam version is already patched to 4.12.2 , but I am telling you this just in case you did patched it beyond 4.12.2 (the latest version available is actually 4.13.4) .

If by any means the game got patched beyond version 4.12.2 , don't worry ; you can still downgrade it to 4.12.2 ! There is a tool in the SAS forums called "Unpatcher from version 4.13.x to 4.12.2" :

Oh , by the way :
You said you turned off the auto-updater . I remember that in the past I had seen that option in Steam's games , but I can't find it any more . I think they removed it completely !
Probably they did it in order to combat piracy or something ...

Hello! This is how it works:

1: Install Il-2 1946 true Steam.
2: Right click on il-2 1946 than select Properties.
3: Go to Beta tab and select the Beta you NEED to run "4_12_2 - Version 4.12.2"
4: close Properties and let Steam download the Beta Version.
5: Go to this web page(BAT and SAS Mod): BAT and SAS [www.sas1946.com]
6: Download SAS IL-2 4.12.2m Mega Patch. {LINK REMOVED}https://www.mediafire.com/folder/5ubrrlmw76m04/SAS_IL-2_4.12.2m_Mega_Patch
7: Download The BAT Mod. This is 50GB so I preffer Torrent. You can get that on their website or just click here [www.sas1946.com]
8: Download the BAT Setup Installer again on their webpage {LINK REMOVED}http://www.mediafire.com/?xs455g9cesbpuf5
9: When all of this are finished downloading. You need to do it in order:
10: Make sure the BAT Mod you downloaded are located in its own folder(BAT01-29.rar/zip in same folder)
11: Move the BAT Setup installer inside BAT Mod folder(were BAT01-29 are located)
12: Now evrything with BAT should be in order. BUT you need to install SAS Mod First!
13: The SAS folder in my case "SAS IL-2 4.12.2m Mega Patch" Should contain:
- IL-2 4.12.2m Mega Patch.part01.exe
- IL-2 4.12.2m Mega Patch.part02.rar and till .part12
14: Click on "IL-2 4.12.2m Mega Patch.part01.exe" And be sure when it ask you were to install/unpack Make sure you pick IL-2 1946 Root folder inside your "steamapps/common/IL-2 1946
15: When SAS is finished installed you may now Install BAT Mod.
16: Install BAT mod using your "BAT v1.0 Setup.exe" now located inside your BAT Mod folder with the "BAT01-29.rar/zip files"
17: Make sure when it ask for location were to install pick IL-2 1946 Root folder (explained in step 14)
18: When BAT Mod is installed you need to change some simple things before you can launch.
19: This time you have to wisit their webpage (link given in step 5) and find "SETUP AND CHECK YOUR INSTALL:" (you cant miss it if you use Ctrl+f and copy paste SETUP AND CHECK )
20: Now in your IL-2 Root Folder you have a file called "Conf.ini" This file can be edited with Notepad.
21: Copy Paste the "Code" in their page and overwrite in your "Conf.ini" file. (not sure if you done it right? Check the length of the default conf.ini and after overwritten. Ctrl+a is most helpfull when it comes to this.) remember to save when done it.
22: Now the wierd thing. Download the BATDLLS-01 {LINK REMOVED}https://www.mediafire.com/?awq89quxr68ze9o (or BATDLLS-02 if 01 don't work.)
23: Copy the content inside BATDLLS-01 to IL-2 1946 Root folder and overwrite.
24: Go to IL-2 1946 Root folder and run "IL-2 Selector.exe"
25: in IL-2 Selector.exe click on "Change Settings" -> Select the Game Type you want to play. And increase RAM usage if can. (at least increasing RAM help me.)
26: Hit Save Settings and click on "Start IL-2 now!"
27: If game runs this is complete!
28: If game crash or does not Start. Try BATDLLS-02 instead mantioned in step 22. And or try restart your Computer!

This worked for me and I belive this is the easiest way to get it working.

Thanks very much for your guide. It worked perfectly for me. I screwed something up when I pasted into my Conf.ini which was screwing up my resolution, but I figured it out. Thanks again for taking the time to type that out. I've installed everything all the way up to Blitz now.

Sad. you could be able to fly all the ww2 had to offer. other ppl. have made it trough my guide so I dont se the difficulty. the conf.ini file is there. Might not be there if you have not started the game before ofc. (first time launch creat's it, maybe)
