Question About Multiple Gold icons on right hand of the screen

It has been a long time since we played DW2, and we reinstalled. Game installed fine, and we now have about 30 small gold icons on the middle right hand portion of the playing area. Is there any way to remove these without altering the program. We ask because it would remove some clutter and simplify the interface. This is not meant to be construed as a criticism, rather an inquiry from a player playing again after a long hiatus and probably a major update. Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide. If the icons are necessary, they will be fine, but we would prefer a less complex interface if at all possible. We really appreciate that the developers continue to improve the simulation and add new features.

I think you're talking about message filters, which you can use to dictate which messages the game shows you. You can hide the filters by clicking the little drop-down above them (which I think is labelled 'all filters').
