Game screwed because of nearby Ion storm system
I have an Ion storm system right next to my home system, almost as soon as it was discovered, all my patrolling military ships got stuck in it, and for some reason all my construction ship also like to "retire forever" in this system, maybe due to some computer cores to loot they automatically want to recover, maybe because it is right between two system and they are just passing through.

This system is now a graveyard, I disccovered it when looking for my constructions ships that were nowhere to be seen , 8/9 of them where stuck in this system with there engine disabled.

So bad... It was a nice start for once until this happened
Hauler ships wouldn't help even in this case, it would become a never ending loop of suicidal ships being hauled out and going back to their own demise again.

Ion defense is still very far away in the tech tree for me, as I would literally need to equip it into every single ship designs to avoid the mass slaughter, and it would take a lot of space in every ship just because the IA is unable to avoid a nearby deadly system.

My only guess to solve this would be to remove the system entirelly with the game editor, as I couldn't find any way to remove the storm itself, but OFC this system seems to be a source of important events.

Nerf ion storm, or prevent the IA to send ships into them, or allow to forbid a system to your ships, or allow to remove them through the game editor

I believe there is a bug were auto controlled ships aren't quite skirting around storms and get trapped on the edges.

Being able to restrict travel to the system is a good idea. I believe Stellaris implemented something similar. In this case, a combination of Hauling ships and this feature would make Ion storms a far more palatable for players.

Definitely want the ability to quarantine systems. Having my steaming pile of 2 escorts constantly wanting to go 'investigate' a particular asteroid field gets very annoying. It should be enough that 3/5 of your comrades in better ships went in and never returned. Go sit this one out Ensign Johnson...

In one game as Humans I got the Ghost Fleet event, gave them the cash, and then watched as their cool station was immediately destroyed by nearby space monsters. These weren't just angry barnacles either, but hard, pipe hittin space crabs that made short work of a pretty beefy station by then standards. It was supremely annoying at the time but is quite funny in retrospect. Life is like that sometimes.

I have one such Ion nebula between 2 spiral arms
Ships travel between the arms and directly pass though the nebula
It's fine if they stay in hyperspace speed

But by any chance if they slow down inside the nebula, they will be trapped forever
Sometimes it was caused by out of fuel just inside the nebula
Sometimes you just ordered your fleet for a new task while they passing through the nebula, they will stop and change direction for new destination, then trapped

OP, better write this not in discussion thread but in technical support. Better yet, on their main forum. I support your case about adding forbidden button, but devs wont see your post in this thread along side all others whining and useless comments.

My map is screwy too with storm systems catching ships forever and the scuttle button not available. All my explorers and constructors on auto all die in stuck in the storms. In one case a pirate station was spawned in orbit of a planet next to a storm and it can do nothing, cannot be attacked or boarded. I just found another system on top of a storm, so nothing is explorable inside it. This is early game, so maybe later one gets tech to mitigate the storms? Doubtful. The editor doesn't seem to help, can delete the system in the storm but none of the storms "areas" or names.

push this topic. Seeing 30% of your fleet die in this nebulars without an option to tell the ai to avoid this systems is very annyoing.

As Sinderlok said, submit a bug report if you ever want to see this changed. Go to the technical support portion of the forum and follow the instructions.

I 've been asking, literally, for years, to have a way to mark a system as "no entry" except by manual command. DWU had same problem. Asked there, too. Never fixed, Quarantine zones are commonplace. Why can't these advanced space faring people learn?
