Options for smooth mouse zoom?

I recently picked up Distant worlds 2. I love the entire simulation aspect and how well everything works since the new updates.

Though what stands out; the mouse zooming via scroll wheel is very jarring compared to using page up and down. The latter is completely smooth while scrolling via the mouse wheel makes the game feel very laggy and jank due to the stuttering scroll.

It seems like such a small QoL but I can't find anything in the settings. Are there any plans from the devs to change this? Or otherwise any mods to fix this.

Agreed, this requires improvement. I felt the same from day 1 but never mentioned it myself or heard anyone mention it before today.

Not that small actually, as we zoom in/out A LOT in this game, compared to other games.
