other empires colonizing planets in my territory
Hi all,

The oponent empires tend to colonize planets in my territory, making me lose my systems. is there a way to have "closed borders" or how do i claim back those systems?

Tnx!

There is no such thing in the game as closed borders.
You can only retake the systems by invading.
They can't colonize planets in your territory. What happens is - their influence level outgrew yours in that area and it became their territory making it possible to colonize. OR it was an independent colony, which can be colonized even if it's in someone's territory.
Theoretically you can use espionage to "Incite rebellion at colony", but you need really high espionage skills, and even then the chance of success is unlikely to be more than 10-20% - youll need lots of spies. Even then, if that colony has enough garrisoned troops, rebellion might be crushed. Successful rebellions make the colony independent.

Another way to colonize in someone else's territory is when these two parties are at war. But generally there are no closed borders and cross-border raids (like in medieval Europe) are always possible.

Well, they did you a favor lol.

Sounds like they ate the cost of colonization ships and now you get some free planets :)

Yeah kinda funny, some species doesnt understand that. Like telling people stay off my lawn or driveway lol.

Stellaris has this open or closed border rules, i though it was stupid. If there are two human species that are neutral to each others, then that is something else. Like in Star Trek, such as neutral zones, federation, so on.

But when you have a species that not entirely human or humanoids, they wont understand it and they dont care.
