Good, wasnt sure if i needed to upgrade or get more ram.
Thanks
It may be OK though if playing with very few opponents.
Idk maybe i should stick with 1000 systems instead.
Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-13600K 3.50 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display
For CPU, I have a fifth-gen i7 with 4c/8t and played successfully 1k stars galaxies up to ~200 colonies. There is only a bit of lag when the mining locations list is visble, otherwise it's perfectly fine. The latest beta has really put a shovel of performance on the fire.
32gb is standard for home systems, with less you'll be swapping out all the time. Memory isn't wasted, disk buffers are good to have.
Not just the cores, memory or ram keep of track of everything. If run out of memory, it will crash! Cores on the other hands, keep things rolling, if it get to limit it will slow to crawl, what we call lags or drop in fps.
I didnt realized i needed more cores, only missing two or 8 out of ten. Planning on keeping the story on, disable the victory conditions, with only three or four opponents and rare minor races. On a 1,500 systems!
I will let you know how things goes, might be awhile. Cause i dont play this all day like some of you do lol. Gotta wait until the package arrive, then upgrade the rig.
Wait a minute you have a i5? yeah that not gonna cut it. The i9 11th generation will blow that i5 out of the water. Cause before i did some upgrade with this rig, i had a i7 10th generation and did alright, but wasnt so great in another game i was playing. Forgot how many cores it has, probably eight. Around that speed, by the time i got i9 11th, 3.5Ghz with 8 cores, it ran really smooth and even good on most games along with the video card i have. I remember having a older machine i use to have, got i5 multi cores (dunno how many) and didnt do well to keep up. Since i kept upgrading and improving over the years, started to make a huge differences.
Spoken to few experts, told me should get extra kick around 12 to 15 percent from i7 10th i had toward i9 11th. Dunno how would react to i5 though, maybe double? idk.
So i should be fine, that 64GB will give extra room for ram, for a long period of time.
