Invest in planetary exploration scanners at some point.
btw. the resource scanner on ships is for quick scanning of asteroid fields, without it can take a long time to check every single roid.
The other way to bring up the exploration level on planets besides better scanners is continued interaction through orbital bases or colonization, secrets will be revealed and I think there is a general random chance of completely new resources popping up even when they are not defined in the editor view.
I got many not updated Exploration ships, so maybe this one was not successful. Is there a list of those undiscovered (but important) places? I am asking as this pop-in window disappear soon...
...yes, and you can also see/read ALL of your messages (since game-start) by clicking on the envelope-symbol, just right of the main in-game menue and Galactopedia-symbol, in the upper right of your screen.
