When you select an empire in diplo window, scroll down, and see info on trade. Great. Why not also show 'trade of Research points?
Both with and having cancelled both agreements the research project advanced 14% in 1 year.
There's a lot of room for bias but simply: Research Agreements effect is probably 0 or insignificant (less than 5% research output).
Either way it didn't look like there was any benefit to me.
What I don't like, is if I just want to trade with an empire and not ally that it isnt possible because eventually they'll hate you for not accepting the better treaties.
Also, defense pacts are useless and dont' work.
