Annoying Music
I hope this is not an issue that has already been discussed, I did search and didn't see anything major. Respectfully, after taking all the tours, playing over thirty hours, tweaking the audio levels in the settings, looking for mods (maybe I missed one?), I cannot listen the sounds in this game anymore. To be polite, it's unpleasant. A particular clanking sound is horrible. The final straw was my wife coming in the room asking about "that new game you have been playing, the noisy one, I don't like it." Many games I came put my headphones on and get lost in a game, like Rimworld! I just sat back and listened to the sounds in DW2 a few minutes ago, who would want to listen to them, they're awful. I love this game in the short time I gave it, I want to play more, but there's no way I am going into my Saturday evening with those sounds in my head.

EDIT: What I thought were game sounds turned out to be the games music.

Well, that sounds really awful (what a linguistic joke (lol)) - but maybe you forgot to tell us (or the DEVs) to what sounds you're referring here in partiicular - respectively what actions/situations in the game are causing them ? - Because without that no one here (or the DEVs) might be able to help you with it, I'm affraid. :happens:

The default sounds that load up when you play the game. They don't have a track listing or a name to share that I am aware of. Load the game up and listen, it's rather unpleasant and it repeats over and over. And over. No matter to me really, there are other games to play and I know that this game had a rough start and I seriously was trying to be helpful. Maybe others like the sounds, to me it sounds like I am at an auto shop waiting for my car to be repaired. No matter, I know where the door is, I'll see myself out. Thanks for the suggestion.

Oh - I think you mean the music (music is not sound, technically (!) - so, I'd recommend to update your thread accordingly :cybereye:) ... But yes, the music is very bad in my opinion, too (not all, but most of it) :evildisappointed: - but it's very easy to get rid of it / to replace it with the music you'd like to hear :happens::

1.(quickest/easiest) you can turn it off in the settings of the main-menu !

2. You can delete or exchange all music-files in the folder in your game-directory (normally: "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Distant Worlds 2\data\music") - just make sure that they are in an MP3- / WMA- / or WAV-format and the game will play them instead the original files ! :cybereye:
(Hint: if you only want to delete/exchange some files (or all) in the sub-folders make sure that you delete all the files in the folders above the sub-folders, because otherwise those are played additionally. :happens:)

I believe he is referring to the construction sounds: "t sounds like I am at an auto shop waiting for my car to be repaired"

Yeah, if you zoom into your spaceports, its all you hear. An auto shop and a cacophony of warp drive sounds.

Yes, maybe - but that don't "load up when you play the game" (at least not automatically) and you also don't have/need "a track listing" - and the music sometimes also sounds like "an auto shop"... :cozybrawlhalla1:

First of all, thank you to everyone who answered. The issue is with the music. The so called music sounds more what I would expect to be referred to as "sounds" in most games. I hope this makes sense, it's been a long day. I lowered the music to zero and for me anyway it brought out from the background a bunch of sounds that the music was covering up! The expected sounds of manufacturing and spacecraft! I have only played a few minutes but this is a completely acceptable work around.

Thanks again.

The soundtrack is terribly bad, and the way it transitions from track to track when you zoom in and out is awful.

Put on your own playlist or radio for music, I do this with all games as the endless repetition always gets to me...

I have not had to do this in 1600 hours of Stellaris, and this does not solve the issue.

The sound design of DW2 is horrid.

I also dislike the notification sound. I wish there was an option to just disable that.
