problem with starting game

hey, i keep getting problems with opening the game, i press the start button, then it says its running but doesnt open! can anyone help at all??

It works. Sometimes you just need to spend some time in Google ... There are some solutions to fix it and than it works ^^

Way 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcB8xYHjcN0&t=18s (German Video, but you can follow each step, when you dont have the CD ROM, just skip til i do somethn since when you can follow. Your Directiony may be another.)

Way 2: http://www.siedler-maps.de/forum.php?action=showthread&postid=146145#posting146145 (You have to install the game and the Patch before)

I tried it using what Cloudslife wrote and a window does open attempting to start the game but the i get the error RwEngineStart() and i can only close it again - anyone experiencing that or an idea what i did wrong? I replaced the original SettlersHoK file with the renamed one from the link and thats all i did

If you are trying the method I did, then I don't know what to tell you. Make sure you followed my steps thoroughly.

This is what I did:
1. Downloaded the folder from your link - Inside there is: settlershok_w10cu and shokmapeditor_w10cu
2. Extracted all files from settlershok_w10cu file to reveal new settlershok_w10cu and shokmapeditor_w10cu files, this time with icons and with the ability to rename the files
3. Rename settlershok_win10cu exactly to SettlersHoK and replace the existing folder with that name inside the Bin folder with the renamed one
4. Thats it

Is that correct or did I do sth wrong?
