got the same issue here too. It's been a while since I played, had some trouble last time too but at least it did start. This time not so much

I read something on steam that i think they said that this game is not playable anymore because of a recent windows 10 update

I think you need another .exe to play it on Win10

if anyone finds the solution, please post it around here, i hate how careless the updates of the systems are

found a solution for me https://workupload.com/file/VwbhS5Z

backup your original files just in case, but don't forget to rename the downloaded files to settlershok.exe and shokmapeditor.exe

MSTVD
what do you do after you've downloaded it? Do you store it somewhere?
MSTVD Aug 24, 2017 @ 8:42am
you replace the launch file in the game folder with the one you downloaded, make sure you renamed the downloaded one to the same name as the one in the files

Thankyou. And which one is the 'launch file'? In the game folder (assuming the one i am looking at is the one you were talking about ie Documents>HeritageOfKings-TheSettlers) i have listed:

Data
SavedGames
Screenshots
Temp

Would you be willing to come on team viewer and helping me out? I've tried doing it but it hasn't worked.

MSTVD - The link worked! so happy been pretty upset it would not start.

Britishbluedog - right click on your settlers game in steam and click "properties" and find "local files" then click "browse local files". from there open the "Bin" folder. once you download the file from MSTVD's link you backup the "settlersHoK.exe" file (just incase). the first file in the folder you downloaded will have a "w10cu" take that (not the map editor one) and rename it "SettlersHoK" and place it in your bin folder. after that it should boot up!. enjoy!

Is this the "Windows 10" fix?
