Tips for accurate firing?
I know about using G to use the "ghost" view and that does help but I´m having trouble getting shots to land on my targets. Many times I get nice clean "should hit" indication and the enemy just flies unbothered through it. I guess they didn´t take the path the targeter predicted. Any tips for making better more accurate fire? I think sometimes im just way out of range as well but not sure how to tell that other than just eyeing it.

In a game like IL-2, you would hold fire unless the enemy wings fill the ring of the boresight. So, you should be pretty close. Other than that, make certain you aren't deflecting the controls very far (less than 25%?) when you shoot.

Lead your targets, although the display tells you if you are doing this right. It's best to shoot from the enemy's six o'clock.

Try and perform shots that will connect as soon through your planes flight path as possible. Unless they make an immediate turn during most will likely hit. The farther through the flight path your shots will supposedly land gives the enemy time to maneuver out of the way

Unfortunately the game doesn't take "advantage" in to consideration should you have it. This means being behind the other aircraft known as "tailing".

If we were able to declare TAILING then our aircraft can commit itself to having an advantage and cannot switch target and the predicted path is revealed so we can follow through with our gunnery.

There SHOULD be perks or abilities governing that as well, otherwise we might as well be having tea and texting on our phone during combat ... :(

There is a natural advantage to tailing in the game...you have more time with your guns pointed in the general direction of the enemy in the upcoming turn

For getting more shots to hit I have several tips (others noted some of these above)
1) Closer is good (Maybe you are too far)
2) Get the yellow bars beside the upcoming turn's flight path to be as long as possible. This might require experimenting a bit with your plane's path
3) Yellow bars close to the start of your turn are more likely to hit
4) Pointing your plane at a Stalling plane (Red or white <<< markers beside the target) helps because the target's path can't deviate much as it is going slow
5) Pointing your plane at a blacked-out enemy (black lines beside the flight path) helps because the target won't deviate much in the flight path...the pilot isn't trying to maneuver
