Achtung Spitfire was a beautifully designed turn based game. This game has timers on movement..a horrible, horrible design decision.
A easier dogfight pc game is <Sid Meier's Ace Patrol>, got WWI and WW2 edition (sadly WW2 only in pacific theatre)
Ace Patrol is a pretty good game, for what it does. Scripted missions, but with quite a lot of variety. There are also three elevations for the planes, not just a 2D fight.
I believe that the timer will be optional.
Show me ANY post that says the timer is optional.
Correction, I think it will be optional, not 100 sure. But we will see. I don't like it with time either.
Sorry for the aggressive post. I have done a fair amount of reading, and the developers even closed one of the threads. Pretty comfortable stating that they WANT timers, to force players to push push push. Timers cover up poor AI.
It is such an opportunity.
I was excited to see this but at least on first demo try, I felt utterly lost as to how to do, well anything. Maybe I need to wait for a post-release Steam game guide tutorial for dopes like me.
So no, I don't think it's a modern take on those games, it's a different animal.
