slight spoiler: in the slime bank you can later get upgrades to increase your chance to capture monster at full health and to the general capture chance. (i dont know the in and outs of capture, but the existence of both upgrades lets me deduct that its like pokemon: higher chance when the mob is damaged)

According to help section:

Normal monster - 10% chance at 100%, increases with some scaling when health drops below 75% max HP.
Boss monster - 0% chance at 100%, 5% chance at below 5% max HP.

Upgrades:
1. +1% for normal monsters, starts at 100% HP, +0.5% for bosses, starts at below 5% max HP.
2. +2% for normal monsters and +1% for bosses only at 100% HP.

100 traps for 1 success must have been boss monster before reducing its hp to 5% and it finally triggered when it became below 5%. Otherwise seems really unlucky if it was normal monster with 10% chance.
I'll post a PSA as a main topic about capturing, but the tl;dr is: Don't mess with it too early, you'll be wasting your time, mats, and money because the success rate will be horrible.

Open Bestiary on Explore tab and you will see a progress bar with a button there. You can collect loot from creatures that you captured every 2-3 hours. Also capturing them increases their drop rate, first 5 increase drop rate by 1%, then next few increase it by 0.25%, not sure what happens after 8, I only collected 8 green slimes trying to get extra chance to get Nature Crystals. No effect on its drop rate yet, still 0.010%.

There is a bonus from one Slime Bank upgrade that gives you a 1% bonus to worker speed per 100 captured monsters per a level of the upgrade.

Drop rate is another decent one. Through auto-capturing from reincarnation I have 100% drop rate bonus from a few kinds of slime.

Then free loot, not the biggest bonus but it's there.

Personally haven't manually captured much except for missions except for early on for that bank upgrade.

free loot after some reinc is the best things...you get free loots so fast (1 per second per monster) so try when you can get 50 of each monster and boss...will help for later and for the sime bank upgrade

autocapturing from reincarnation, what is this, and how/when do you get that?

Once you complete area 5-4 you can fight the challenge boss monteblango. Killing him unlocks reincarnation which is like rebirth except it starts almost everything from scratch. Using points you get from various tasks you can unlock upgrades. One of the choices is happy captures it gives you a 0.02% chance per a kill to automatically capture monsters per a level.

Manually capturing is better for quests or for quickly raising the total captures but the reincarnation skill is great for people like me who leave the game running all night to get quite a few free captures from whatever I'm farming.

How does the bonus drop chance per capture calculate?
IE: Catch 10 get a 10% drop chance bonus - is that chance increase to get 'a' drop (relative spread)?
Catch 100 and the chance for all drops effectively doubles?

The more you catch the less extra increase you get. First 5 - 1% per monster, then 0.25% per monster. 102 monsters give 27.13% total bonus. The bonus is multiplicative, so if something had 0.04% chance to drop it becomes 0.04%*1.2713=0.05%.

Didn't notice the decrease after 5 lol that makes it even worse..
Is there a formula for capture loot speed based on captures?
