The tamer skill where you walk to heal HP/MP is good if you want free healing, but you have to waste some time by walking around doing nothing.
I guess i'm just at a point where i can't fight stronger digimon then.
both my partners a blueMeramons and most digimon around the past few areas so far have either been one hit kill easy or one hit killing me hard.
cape mod is so far the only place that has digimon that with very hard work and timed defend actions could beat and get some decent stat gains, but of course at the cost of most of my hp and mp.
i tried to just buy lots of healing items but they only heal about 500 hp/mp and my digimon have thousands of both at this point so it takes a lot of them just to almost heal fully.
This game has no loss in stat progress. Specifically, each generation of digimon takes between 10% to 14%, depending on tamer perks, of the highest value in the stat in all of its' generation. So if your digimon had 2000 strength gen 1 and 1500 strength gen 2, your gen 3 would have about 200 to 240 strength (from gen 1) base strength. So your first gen is going to be noticeably weaker than gen 2 or gen 3 and sometimes it's advantageous to try and build one stat as high as possible for the next gen to get a good headstart. Stamina and wisdom are great for efficiency in time/money since it minimizes hp/mp loss.
You'd want to rush to Bony Resort and get strong enough to fight the Wizardmon in the red room since it gives you 3000 bits per battle which is a pretty decent chunk of money early-mid game.
Your other option to earn money other than battles is by fishing, but it's kind of tedious so it depends if you're patient or not.
There is a Defend option which you should unlock on your character which significanly reduces your loses of HP if you manage to activate it in time. It is highly recommended to unlock it and to use it often.
There are regen HP and regen MP while walking abilities which lets you heal while you move around which is very useful if you rarely fight enemies, but not so useful if you try to kill a lot in a row and suffer loses on each battle.
Farming some enemies may drop free heal items. By the time I actively started farming to gain stats (at gen 5) I already had 90+ 500HP heals and 50+ 1500HP heals in my inventory. But I am not sure which enemies exactly I got that from. I collected daily rewards from Jijimon's house and upgraded it once when it became available so part of that amount came from dailies I guess.
But usually you should avoid fighting battles which drain a lot of HP/MP too often. They are not profitable if you have to use heal items or important time after each one. Raise your stats higher before going there and try to fight enemies one at a time so that you can defend on one mon while another deals damage (still have to avoid aoe attacks).
