Wait, doesn't training shorten by a big chunk lifespan? At least world 1 and re digitize/coded did...
Basically start at lv1, grind to lv10 to beat a boss, digimon passed away. 10 hours spent already.
Restarted at lv1, grind to lv20 to beat a boss, your digimon passed away again. Another 5 hours spent.
Oh lv30 regions are way too hard to train up quickly. Oh training your digimon brutally will whittle it's age away.
Etc.
I remember years ago I spend more time running away from enemies than fighting them because it was such a pain.
I trained a lot on my first two digimons (maxed exp on all 6 training facilities without being able to upgrade them yet) and they lived for 15 days both and got up to Ultimate rank. I don't know if it is a lot or not because I didn't play this game previously. On my 2nd generation one digimon died after just 10 days while 2nd one survived for a few more. First one died earlier because he had difficult requirements to progress to the next Digivolution and got only to Champion. Based on info in game each Digivolution adds some Life so it resulted in him having lower total Life.
Currently I am at 3rd generation with one 12 days old Mega and one 7 days old Ultimate. It feels like there is plenty of time to train and if they desync the lower rank digimon trains much faster (both in training and in fights).
There are also some abilities in Basic skill tab which increase both base Life and Life gained per Digivolution. I didn't take those yet specifically to rotate faster through generations to check all digimons and their requirements.
Based on my very limited experience (3 dead ultimates and 1 champion) my theory is that without being sick or hurt Champions have 10 days to live (total since the beginning of generation, not since they became the Champion), Ultimates - 15 days. As the game is very old I am sure there is an actual info on how life is calculated somewhere around but I don't want to look for it yet to not spoil things.
Supposedly it depends on your Digimon's Discipline and Happiness as well. A discipline digimon dies faster cuz they are depressed but listens to you like a king, a happy digimon will live longer cuz they are happy but are spoiled brat bnut thats on World 1 so unsure if tis still applies in DW:NO
Age 8 for an ultimate isn't anything special given they can't even digivolve to mega until age 11. Without the life boosting tree, your first generation of ultimates if they don't digivolve to mega should live until 16 regardless of difficulty. It has no effect on lifespan.
Yeah I do remember most of it, but as you said, I don't know what really applies in this entrty. Thanks for the reminder though!
Men I did forget that, albeit I believe in decode I maxed out a stat which allowed you to order attacks...? My memories are a bit fuzzy though.
So happiness and discipline have no advantages/disadvantages lifespan wise, is that correct? And what about training? Should I still be aware about how much I need to train them?
My main gripe with the previous entries was that stat gain was abysmal in fights so from mid to late game I just went full gym in order to fight bosses, and this was a very boring cycle, since my mons would die after a few days.
The way you phrased this makes it almost sound like a roguelike lol. The recent generation of roguelikes I have played have a feature where once you die in your first run, you can purchase bonuses/items to make the second run easier. Then when you die in the second run, you can purchase more to make the third run easier and so on until you reach a point where you can clear the game comfortably (older roguelikes don't have such conveniences).
The World games get easier the more you rebirth so it's kind of a roguelike-lite IMO.
As for your issue, I would say it gets easier once you get the gameplay loop and are a few generations in. By generation 5th or 6th with many of the town features unlocked and the good tamer skills, I find it is very difficult to lose/die against even bosses and my Digimon dont die as much as I want (I want to use some other Digimon and fill the Field Guide). I have to purposefully try to kill them lol.
So, just hang on till then! Even if your first few generations die too quickly, you will soon reach a point where you want them to die early.
