Can you turn off the lifespan thing?
I'm curious about this game but never liked the old digimon world that had me essentially stressing against the timer of a digimon's lifespan. Is it possible to turn that off in this one?

I don't mind a digimon dying from falling in battle, just don't like stress elements in games much.

You can't turn it off but this game is a lot more lenient than previous ones. You can upgrade facilities in town and tamer skills that will help you increase your digimons lifespan.

On PC, with mods or Cheat Engine? Probably.

Just to clarify on taichiyagami's post; eventually you can fish up digiseabass and eat life extending meals in a restaurant, both of which extend life span so frequently that a single cycle can go on for what feels like forever.

If you're very efficient late game you can have them live longer lives but you cannot turn it off. This game requires you to use your time wisely but its not as harsh as Digimon World (1)

If one of your digimon dies then the young one will get a large boost to training to even things out, you could even take advantage of that.

For a more pleasant experience you'd wanna play on easy mode to reduce grind so you can use more of that free time in game.

that would defeat the entire game's point

i wish you could. it's why i refuse to play this game. what's the point of putting effort into your digimon if they just die right away? would rather go play pokemon or one of the other hundred better creature collector games

they retain most of their stats and as such each new digimon is stronger than the last

also this isnt a creature collection game in the first place

Alright, I think I've gotten plenty enough answers to my question now. So I'd appreciate if you guys took your argument elsewhere.

Having them die is interesting, but I prefer a different system. Have to give this game a pass.

Stick to Digimon Story then. That series is more JRPG than virtual pet care

No but if you think this is bad play the PS1 original. I always remember playing that when I was in my late teens to early 20s and it was an absolute nightmare starting out. Just keep battling wild Digimon, you'll eventually increase your Tamer level to a point that makes death seem like a minor inconvenience.
