It does sound like he was talking about the original Digimon World games being remastered if the demand is high enough. Also sounds like there was talks of remakes too.
It only sounds like that if you don't speak corporate. His answer is quite clear that they don't consider it viable right now ("I would like to consider" means it's not currently considered) since they lack the resources and the belief in the necessary demand ("if fans are interested" means they haven't been convinced that they are).
I have to disagree with the idea that emulation makes ports unnecessary, though. The most obvious advantage is the lower bar of entry to play the game legally. But a PC port also allows for some better modding capabilities and community support in general.
Assuming we're talking about a decent port, no the already existing PC Port for Digimon World.
And I stand by the open source thing. Bandai should just give us the source code. Alternatively they could also hire the community directly, fine with me as well. ;)
Umm I get it but like I said "if" and that's generally something a dev like myself might think when assessing a game. Doesn't guarantee anything really but it more or less shows there open to the idea.
Umm didn't say that emulation makes it unnecessary. I'm all for them to port it to as many platforms as possible. I'm mostly tired of waiting on devs that basically turn games into 'abandonware' due to lack of any care for their older games.
Sure modding might be easier with a native port and I have no problem with that and I'm sure it'll probably could be implemented better with 'workshop'.
I was not aware of a PC port of the original Digimon World.
There is a Korean PC port of which we don't even know if it was properly licensed. It most certainly isn't a good port, though. :(
hey syd didnt expect to see you here xd. This is actually true bur id still like a remaster or port at least for the first dw
but I do hope that digimon world 3 and the other original 2 come to steam as well, id love to be able to buy them and play them on steam, i own digimon world 3 still to this day on ps1
I finished it all at 100% in 2020 but if they introduced them to Steam I would replay the three games again for sure.
Just hope they add a speed function for fights because that's the only thing that ruins the game for me
The sequel 2 games never felt anywhere near as good.
But that first game was superb, would love to see it on Steam, ideally updated to what current mods have managed to do to the game.
