this should honestly sell better than pokemon
with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that is scar and viol, and the fact that 90% of the issues are TIED to the system, digimon coming to pc is nothing short of a blessing. they should honestly port more games, and get MORE money than ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pokemon

People need to stop comparing Digimon to Pokémon, it's hurting the franchise.

This game won't ever sell nearly as good as a Pokémon game (especially not a port of a 5 year old game) and creating even a hint of that expectation will ineviteably lead to disappointment.

Which is also the reason why it took almost 13 years for another Digimon World game to be made, despite it being the best selling Digimon game at that point (and that game, namely Digimon World Re:Digitize, promptly becoming the second best selling one).

Let Digimon be it's own thing please.

It might be a better game, but it just isn't as popular as Pokemon, sadly.

Most people can't handle the sad moment when your digimon dies.

Pokemon has been ♥♥♥♥ for like 4 generations at this point, but gamefreak can take dumps and people will still eat it and say "thanks, it's delicious"

I prefer digimon myself, but digimon is nowhere near as popular, and that's partly because all their games feel incredibly low budget and unpolished, this one is no different based on the trailers/gameplay II've seen. Which is a shame, I feel like they really ought to pump some more money and talent into this franchise, specially at this point in time.

They're both "monster raising" franchises, so of course people are gonna compare them.

It's more of a rebirth than a proper death if you think about it, so it's not too sad if you take that angle.

I agree with you, It's a chance to get a new and stronger Digimon if you train it better. But the people that dislike the original DW is usually because they are not fondly of that mechanic.

That's fair I suppose, it's good to explore things with a relatively open mind if you're an adult and want to enjoy other games. Also if you mean original DW in the current day, it might also be because it has aged terribly. I played the game when I was young and I loved it so I don't particularly find its shortcomings to be a struggle, but it is very much a game that was designed to sell game guides... if you see the one we got in the west (can be found online) it more or less tells you where you can find everything with painstaking detail, even for the time the game was pretty arcane about some of its mechanics/puzzles.

I don't think it has aged that bad, it is still a pretty unique game.
It was probably made that way to artificially increase the game lenght, but being tossed into a strange world with no idea of what to do fits Digimon really well, using a guide kinda beats the purpose and the feeling of surprise when achieving something.
But I could understand how people would struggle, feel frustrated, and just drop the game for something more straightforward like Pokemon.

It's easy to feel this way towards something you enjoyed, specially if you grew up playing more challenging games, but from my experience the vast majority of people playing games rage, get frustrated, give up and quit pretty often, that's why you see so many games these days being pretty casual or increasingly casualized (look at what they did to tactics ogre). Compared to a lot of things at the time, and specially pokemon, DW1 was pretty arcane/obtuse in a lot of ways.

Maybe I'll give this one a try on sale, I don't have a lot of spare cash atm :cinnamon2:

This hurts but its true xD, there's other examples like this one as well. Like SAO vs .Hack and so on.

Still, Thank goodness the games are available on PC so that everyone willing to give them a try can whenever they want to now!

Why are you comparing a Videogame franchise that had 20 years trying something new for each installment to a Videogame franchise that keeps making the same game with few adjustments for 20 years?

To sell more than Pokemon it needs to be as generic and easy as them, it have to be an rpg for baby so everyone can play them
