Hmmm, i just started Episode 3 and so far, none of it has been voiced at all...in fact it is treating it as a 'WIP episode' so this is confusing to say the least.
You can play from any save not in the hub and it should play into episode 3 like normal!
Oh well, looks like i got to star from the beginning again....oh well.
No, its not, Episode 3 is released fully, there is no excuse for this, now if it was episode 4...then sure, its unfinished and buggy, i never complain about unfinished products being buggy, but when its released like episode 3 is, it is unacceptable for this kind of bug.
I hope they fix it.
That said, I'm qutie certain they will fix it, PF is not in the habit of disappointing their players. Us poor shmucks who haven't made more branching saves, however, are probably out of luck either way.
Yeah, if they were going to release it all, at once when finished, then sure, but they are releasing each episode as they finish the voices, i see each episode finished and released when the voices are done for said episode.
So, any game breaking bugs in Episode 1, 2 and 3 are unacceptable since these 3 episodes are supposedly finished.
If you expect the game as a whole to be under the protection of any criticism, then i suggest the Developers not release the game as they finish the voices and just release it when its finished as a whole.
They are releasing it as the voices are completed and i judge each episode when the voices are done and released, hence the criticism of episode 3.
I'd like to apologies for this bug. In previous episodic releases of our games, the saves were not compatible between episodes (as we retroactively added potential variables and such).
With Astral Ascension, we wanted to support save compatibility between episodes however it was our first time trying to do this and we ran into some difficulties.
We'll be more vigilant with robust testing of this "save hub" within the game, and eventually it'll be a non-factor as the "save hub" is a temporary integration as we do episodic releases going to all the episodes being available.
Regarding the episodic releases themselves, we are finding bugs and opportunities for polish even between updates. We do treat early access as a time to be able to improve the game and not reflective of the final version of the game. For instance, side characters are unvoiced at the moment. If your priority is for a smooth and complete experience, then I would definitely recommend the full release as that 'end to end' experience.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. My apologies again for the trouble.
Cheers,
Dishu
Minor bugs are different and i totally understand its a new way of doing it, i mean i picked up your other games AFTER they were released, so i never encountered any problems that may have occurred., so this problem surprised me......so while i like the story, i think i will wait for it to be entirely released and start a fresh save.
The PixelFade team's track record for supporting and completing games is solid enough, I'll take it in stride if I have to continue from an earlier save once in a while or start fresh. Worst case, I giggle-snort more at some of the jokes.
Your response is on the nose, but this first sentence made it golden IMHO. Thanks for treating this kind of issue better than most developers.
