Vertruse province main questline question (spoilers)
*SPOILERS FOR THE MAIN QUEST AHEAD*

So I seem to be stuck at 80% on the main questline in Vetruse province, and all I can see is a quest to help a bunch of farmers attack the Brotherhood because they think the plague-infected patients at the abbey are to blame for their failed crop.

Do I have to do this quest? Feeling kind of railroaded here...I pre-saved and accepted the quest, followed the farmers to the abbey hoping I could make some kind of choice when I got there, but it seems to be forcing me to fight the Brotherhood guards.

Am I missing something? Can I take an alternate route? Or do I just have to kill them?

Just do this quest and it will all work out.

You have to help them get into the church and then make your decision inside. Quite awkward but that's how it goes. Like how you are forced to kidnap the fiance so that the plot progress and then decided to save her afterwards.

In my later playthrough I will try to solve the fields withering problem by taking care of all those disased plant first and then talking to them later, maybe it will be different somehow (I play Ironman so no save and load to try and see).

The whole Vertruse quest isn't well written IMO. There should be a few more quest lines so that you can side with the broker from start to finish, or side with the poisoner foreign woman from the start. Just like you can consistently take the refugees' or the local's side in Tiltren. The current way were you need to have a hodgepodge of both breaks immersion quite badly IMO.

I can save you some time and tell you it doesn't change anything. I'd already cured all the fields before I did that quest, and it still made me take their quest and fight the Brotherhood at the abbey.

Vertruse is a MAJOR disappointment after Tiltren. Like, you are just forced to murder uninvolved guards to "fix" things later for no reason other than the devs being too lazy to add a persuasion option and like 3 lines of dialogue. Nobody is asking for 16 more quests that give you a branching narrative with 7 endings, but come the ♥♥♥♥ on, at least something to intimidate or bribe or whatever. It ruins the roleplaying experience when you are forced into a "decision" because otherwise the progress bar won't fill.

Agreed. Finding more and more of this the longer I play. Kinda disappointing that the RP elements are so shallow or non-existent.

Nope it doesn't change the main line at all - you just collect a bunch of "funny Tubers"
that I can see on use for yet.

So one has to do the kidnap & the farmers attacking the Abby. Bugger that sucks. Just the kidnap is over 150 suspicion that takes multiple rests avoiding the sodding guard. might just have to pay the border fee

I hate this game so much. How can there be so many flaws? These aren't gamers making a game. This is a corporation with no motivation or consideration other than profit. I'm constantly being disappointed with their refusal or inability to fix major, glaring, game breaking bugs. It's beyond pathetic to force "choices" (not a choice if it's forced), especially distasteful and sometimes abhorrent actions and behaviors. It completely ruins a game that has already been partially ruined by these clueless, asinine devs. I'm at 80% with 30/30 locations discovered and locations completed. I have completed all the quest chains with no other quests available and I'm still at 80%.

yeah exactly, very awkward especially that you know, the farmers are wrong. That was why I delay this decision, until I have seen your comment. On my way to abby than. Cheers :)
