How low is "low fantasy"?
Hi.

I'm on the fence about getting this game. I really dig turn based strategy and medieval settings, but I'm not a big fan of wizards and dragons and high fantasy stuff. How low is the low fantasy here? Are non human creatures common, and if so, what kind? Do you use magic, and if you do, can you op-out from using it, or do you need it to finish the game?

Thanks in advance to anyone answering this.

Welcome, I can safely say you can buy this game. There is no magic, but there is alchemy. You can craft a variety of bombs and oils. There are mostly humans and animals. Most of them from the wild, and some of them carrying deceases in special locations or kept hidden inside tombs and a few other places. (So what I mean is, when there is an exception, its because it makes sense). Their presence are minimal. You are going to spend about 30 to 40 hours just in the first region. The game have 6 of them. Its a game which you can easily have more than 200 hours easily, IF you like the idea of replayability as well.

If you decide to get the game, let us know, we can give you some spoiler free tips, to easier your life, because the game doesnt have a tutorial. If you are an experienced rpg player, you are safe, if you are not, then you are going to need to read some tips beforehand.

Im not finished, but only humans, animals, some "ghost" animals, and plague/infected/zombie type humans.

Its pretty low fantasy. No magic.

I highly recommend this game. Its awesome and a somewhat unique experience. Get it, you wont be disappointed.

Hi :)
Well the setting is the middle aged europe but by using fictional regions and places.
The mercs are using weapons like swords, maces, bows, spears, axes and they can with some skills they can inflict bleeding, poison or set the place on fire (arrows and flaming sword skill).

The game has no dragons, mages, clerics and such. There are no magic spells.

The only healing you get are the first aid skill during battle and healing potions that needed to be crafted or bought from an alchemist outside the camp.
Minor injuries can be also healed during a rest when you have the right tools already created and set in your camp.

Plague injuries have a 25% chance to be healed by a normal potion or 100% by a plague cure when they fresh. After a while you can only heal them woth a plague cure.
If you don't do it your companion turns to a infected person that looks a bit like a zombie but its none since its not an undead.

the non human creatures are animals that can be captured and turned into companions by using ropes during a battle after you knocked them out while they are on low health.
The animals are wolfs, boars, bears, mole rats and such.
You can also turn a pony/horse into a warhorse instaed of a carrier if you like to.

To be able to control them in battle though you either need a archer with level 5 that has the beastmaster skill to control animals in battles OR certain items that can be crafted and equipped at the animals.

The highest on fantasy you will find in the game is a creeper (a mutated human) that can be found in the tombs and can get captured with chains, then taken as a prisoner, treated well, given something to do so after it is satisfied enough asks to join you so you can use it in battle and a giant mosquito you can capture through a flask that needs to be crafted then during the battle thrown on the creature to knock it out.
