You can Booster Relationship through Standing next to each other. It schould work in camp. Im not sure but i seen it in battle too. There is a possible chance to improve trough fighting the same enemie if one of the Mercs has bound him. Thrid way is "Camp-Talks"
I've fixed a 'Tolerates' problem between two party members and a 'Dislike' relationship purely by making sure that the characters are sitting at the campfire together and by making sure that they support each other in combat, end their turns next to each other and offer heals.
When you get a camp event after resting that has a character and it gives you a + relationship for friends option.... i've chosen that and gotten positive results out of it. Even if they arent currently friends they can become friends or even cancel out your old dislikes.
I dont believe you said this. I am literally shacking right now. How dare you. All love is permited, who are you to say it isnt? Let my man love the dam Pony!
I remember BB had an event which you can recruit a new companion, and the story I think... you find him about to be lynched by a mob, you save him, recruit him. Then check his title: "the filly fiddler", and discover he is a horse f*cker. Oh... That was gold...
2) Whenever you get a camp dialogue, no matter how juicy/simple the other options are, I always choose the team relationship benefits ones.

As an upside to hitting your ally they can earn the trait eyes of the back of the head if they get hit 10+ times by friendly arrows, making them immune to friendly arrows.
you get Eyes in the back of the head trait by just hitting your teammate Once (if the % chance to get it procs)
you can get it in your first encouter at the start of game with your first arrow.
increased happiness when sleeping nearby for companions that love each other (which means more influence per rest) 7 mercs, that mostly all love each other and are in a disgusting clump that keeps them all nearby and I get +9 happiness per rest from that alone.
Increased dmg and dmg mitigation when next to each other in battle, the best friends status procs when they are next to each other in combat (not stackable)
No chance of fights breaking out in camp, easier prisoner recruitment as well.
