Cursed Village of Asthel
This encounter is neat, but on Ironman + Expert/Expert was a surprise that was not clear as you prepare for it.

The dialog was very confusing in what I was supposed to 'pick' for my scout force, and when I think scout, my typical reaction is not a bunch of tanky, plated classes that can soak, when in fact if you pick all Rangers/Archers is going to WRECK you. The 'Willpower' mechanic makes you 'fill' the meter, which I think made me throw in a few extra people before I realized what was afoot. But even so if you tried to fill a full force of 'scouts' following that typical class archetype you'd still lose lots of folks are make poor decisions going into this that are wildly different than the pace/type of mission/quest for the entire rest of the game.

I lost several folks to this that I would have done things completely differently pre-wise if I had known how this would have played out. My suggestion would be to make it more clear on what types of styles you could go into this with or change the 'prep' pre-reqs or even opposition to embrace the 'scout' roleplay its surrounded with.

there are 3 - 4 such villages in the game so far.
The most important things is the amount of willpower your units have as also how much "sound" they produce.
The lower the sound they produce the less fights will you have to fight since the soundmeter won't fill up as easily as it would when your units are producing a lot of it.
A good and helpful trick my friend and I used in our co op was, when we knew that the next action will fill the meter and we will end up in a battle, we backed out, saved, modified the group by taking more units with us despite the sound would be of the roof so we had a lot more units that could easily finish the battle without having to lose someone because we had enough units to catch up with the incomings. :)
After the battle, we went out again, saved, modified the group to the silent one and went in to do the rest.

Ack - yeah the tactic makes sense, I was just disappointed with the lead-in quest dialogue/atmosphere to start the village. For those who can't roll back to the save after suffering this was quite painful (I lost several veterans and I tend to get attached to my people :)

The plague villages are a real downside to the game. I don't understand why you can't escape there when you can always escape otherwise. Plus, it's snowing in the house (LOL), and so many undead are coming that half of Harag is visiting. A really bad design decision in my opinion, even though I otherwise love the game.

Bug using isn't really my thing.
