Pets Evaluation
So... since i cant play the game like an ormal person, i have to catch them all!
I am giving my two cents so far for the first 3 regions, also, i am focusing in the no normal human dudes.

- Wolf/Alpha Wolf - Wolf seems to me like a good all around companion, some buffs here and there, a nice defensive buff and heal. I see no point in gathering a wolf instead of a Alpha wolf since the difference in atributes seems gigantic - 3 ropes

- Boar/Dominant sow - Its a tankish wolf i would say, but loses a bunch in damage. A nice passive where you get mushrooms from time to time, but in general, IF i had to choose one to get rid of, this would be the first/second choice. Same as alpha dominant is way better. 3 ropes

- BEAR - All caps because he deserve it. Powerhouse all in all, i a low lvl it has around 250hp, thats a ton to tank, has a skill that doubles movment, double attack on the second turn in combat with someone and tant+weakness. Made to tank and kill. Has one weakness, bleed and poison, can eat his life in but a few turns. Also, his support skill, is subpar i would say. Gathering fishes is awesome, but works once while the boar works 2 or 3 times and the rat works around 10 times (timewise). 5 Ropes and 12 FOOD for rest, worth every penny brah...

- Poisonous Rat - Its... cool? i mean, kind of goes against the purpouse to run from the pox ingame but, pets are pets i guess. Can multiply like crazy both in combat and out of combat. The skills are... weird, has a debuff of stacking 10%+ damage on target (fever) but does not seems to be good enough againt the computer, againt you, thats bad, but the computer steals (lol). Also giving the plague when hitting a non armored target seems kinf of not very usefull. In other hand, his support skill to find cheese can feed your party by itself sometimes. It would be my third choice to give up if i had to. 1 rope

- Mole rat - Pretty much like the poison rat, exept it does not have any perks like debuffs of fever plus get debuffed at day and buffed at night, buff is too small and debuff pretty much gets him one shot by enemies of the same level or above. Along with the Boar would be my First/second choice to give up. Finding cheese is good tough. 1 rope

- Creeper - So, this is my favorite by far! Look cool as hell!!! Ad... yeah, kind of thats it... Seriously if anyone know the developer ask him for some love for this guy! Hard to get, needs constant care until recruited (since he is not a pet and more of a human companion). You can give him a armor, but only the first one, i stacked str+def runes on the armor to give him...you know... something to lie to myself about (that the armor is helping, wich is not really). Has a nice attack, always crit on backstabs and heal himself. Wekened on day strong on night and caves, a okish damagehas NO SKILL TREE, absurd... he need to at least be able to use light armors or something. Or get somewhat of buffs... still, i love my sweet demogorgon. 1 chain and a lot of work...

- Plagued Human - So... like the rat, seems to be weird to have one. And like the creeper, its hard to adopt one since it is humanoid. Can only use the first armor, same issue as the creeper, no passive skill tree, cant use weapons and basically is a poison bomb, i found it usefull to get both the rat and her in the same side fighting, as both heal with poison. A little weak and hard to keep alive. 1 chain and care.

As i go along, i will pass along my impressions of new pets and creatures i find.

Just a info for you since I already had all pets in game in previous runs and also encountered the new ones in the release immediately.

- Carriage Pony/ Warhorse can be tanky in battle after it got enough constitution and a good armor crafted for it (can wear one at level 5). It can be regularly recruited from stables or get won by winning the rouste or by finishing the black steed quest in Arthes.
We cet also one in the beginning of the game already.

- Crogswine is like a dominant sow but has partially different active skills and adds bleeding when it hits a enemy, you can catch it with ropes.

- Mosquito, has nice passives and his attack sucks blood from the enemy stacking and healing itself. During rests it can sting one of the companions "secretly" at need and not need to consume food because of that. You need a flask with a potion (dont remember the name right now sorry) that captures it on hit instead of killing it while it has low health.
If the flask hits several ones with low health all together will be captured.

- Black alpha wolf and white/polar wolf are to be found in the new region of alazar.
Can't tell if they have different skills then their "cousins" from other areas cause I didn't captured one yet.

- Polar Bears can be found in the new region and have almost double the stats the brown bears have while looking the same skillwise as far as I can tell. Didn't captured one either yet.

- Ghost Boar/Ghost Wolf can be captured with the ghost chains that will be available in the alazar region (only had one on my side during the quest in ludern prior to the release in which we were provided with some chains but lost everything after the quest was done)

You can gain a achievement by having one boar, one wolf, one bear and one crogswine in your party at the same time.
You will also gain a achievement for capturing a mosquito.

I had asked/suggested to add the pets that were added in the release months ago and I'm happy they did at least that cause I had also suggested other animals that weren't considered yet.

Also suggested skills for the creeper and either another one that looks differently or at least a reskin with a black one with different skills to the one we have now.

Happy to see another gamer that loves the animals and their possibilities in the game! :)

Yeah all I hear is how bad the animals scale but I really love having the alpha wolves around in my party even if they die fast you send them in after the tank and then surround a boss most likely and spam that BM attack button as much as you can crazy damage.

Yeah, i love how the creeper looks, but would be so awesome if like the other toons, it would get some new partial skin for the armor, like the plagued human. And from all, all i can say is that i max con to make the viable (aka not diyng) in fights, i forget about damage, xpet for wolves, gotta love their glass cannon damage.
I am looking forward for moswuitos, been playin for the last 70 hours i think.

I would not say that they scale badly, but all in all, everyone is subpar to any dude with a class, and some are just plain terrible (looking at you boar and rats).
Also, i am pretty sure the bear skill to get fish is not correct... OR the skill for cheese is not correct, cheese procs way too much and fish barely procs.

By far, the strongest build in the game is 8 Bears + 8 Beast Master + 4 Dudes for buffs and such.

8 Beast Master = 40% HP Regen per Turn. Add Infused Collar and that's 50% HP Regen per Turn. At level 8 the Bears have over 800 HP and you can focus fully on Movement Speed. They basically can't die, at all.

Beast Master ATTACK! command gives Fury and orders every animal around the target to attack in (Opportunity), as long as they are not engage with other enemies.

Surround a Boss with 5 Bears, spam ATTACK! and watch as you 1 Turn the boss.

There's also a Unique bow that will allow your Auto to make the animals around that unit to attack as well. Equip yourself with the +10% Precision and you will pretty much never hit your bears.

I dont exactly look out for combos and such, just find it cool to have a plethora of pets and creatures. And yeah, if there was one creature that i would say scale okish it would be the bear.

What's the extra care creeper and plagued humans need ? I almost never kept one long enough to notice.

I mean extra care because you need to keep them as prisioners first. So they can escape if not happy, need renown to be recruited, etc.

Just the bears would be a flat 98 food each rest. Its bonkers. But a good cook can solve this, i always keep around 8 to 10 days of food in inventory,. But i just use a single bear.

The trick is just to not feed them, lol.

Starting with the -10% Fatigue Perk, then eating the -35% Fatigue Food and using the -15% Fatigue Banner Buff, you can last a very long time without feeding anyone.

Also, as long as Happiness is above a certain amount, you will be good, so Alcohol + Campfire can seriously mitigate any kind of happiness loss. You won't be able to maintain 15 cap, since the Happiness loss happens AFTER the happiness gain is calculated, but you should still be fine.

Oh i didn't know they needed that. I'd be afraid to get bitten if that thing can escape...

I tought the same, actually i kept wondering if the rat and the plagued human would not infect the others.

my biggest issue with animals is that in adaptive mode they scale up the enemy party, even if I don't want to use them for combat (mushroom hunting pigs that are also emergency rations for example). I wish you had the option to not bring them into combat like ponies and therefore not affecting enemy group size. Ended up dumping some low level bears I had because the enemy party was almost double the size of mine as I had a small party.
