Randomly can't capture enemies?
So, I've ran into this issue multiple times now. No idea if I'm too stupid to use it properly or what. I have rope, I have shackles. I bring the opponent down to half life or below. I use a warrior for humans and archer for animals. Sometimes there is a capture prompt, sometimes there isn't. What's going on? I haven't found anything else on the topic. The only thing was one of the opponents specifically having "Leader" and therefore being immune to capture, but that's it.

So far it didn't work on: Ghost animals, Alpha (wolf) and "Roephyll" - a normal woman who had no extra buffs or abilities and was Lv1 and just randomly attacked me with a few other Lv1s during camp.

Some enemies are special (have an icon on them, like a star or similar) or you can check their stats to see if they are not possible to capture. Alpha wolves should be possible unless it's the one specific one for a hunt, otherwise it should work long as their health is low enough and you have enough shackles and rope. Keep in mind they also have to be engaged by an ally before a second one can attempt to capture them.

The target needs to be engaged with one of your characters and half health then another character can capture the target.

I find my aoe Brute is often not engaged even when it looks like he should be.

Tip the taunt skill will engage a target without damaging them.

Leaders now have this red horned helm as an icon above there HP bar. they are not captureable, and its now also sayed in the description.
Also like already mentationed above, the enemy must be engaged by another unit already.

Ones with Names count as "leaders" - it's a convention that allows us to do kidnap missions if the Devs reset the flag. If you take a Tavern mission, you'll get the blurb like-

"Thorin the Nimble and his men have bla-bla" -> Thorin is going to be the "leader" and will be uncapturable.

Right. What all of you lowkey forgot is that you need more rope, depending on the animal. Alphas for example require x3 Rope. I'll try to figure out why humans sometimes aren't capturable.

Yeah, that changed since the Last BETA.
Before it would tell you exactly how many ropes or chains you needed. Now it does not anymore.
Quite daunting but fun to discover once you get it.
Also some named dudes cant be captured, elites (star ones) and leaders (armour simbol).

Some enemies use skills that negate engagement, as well.

Animal maintenance needs some work, I think there is structures for them but in region locked it might not be available at the first area.

I wonder, can you capture enemies with those unique bows? There is one that locks down area with a attack of opportunity, and another with a burning arrow aoe.

They show up in quest related events though.

They ONLY give you the leader's weapon and armor, never the individual stuff it seems unless its a random field enemy.

Also since targeting enemies do not engage even with taunt you'll have to wait (take a hit or dodge it) until it stops targeting, those with Coup de Grace are very common in the starting area and are annoying to capture since they re-target immediately, which means you can only capture at the start of the battle.
