Killing bosses before accepting bounties?

If I kill a boss without accepting the bounty for it, can I then go back, claim the bounty and get the reward? Or must you have the bounty first before engaging with said target?

I think you will miss the bounty. I killed countless band of target bandit before they even get into bounty board but they won't give you any additional reward.

there will be no bounty for them on the board when you come back and dont accepted it before...

As a rule of thumb try not to do anything that you're not getting paid to do, especially in the early game. Avoid contact with any groups that look a bit different, or if you do contact them take the leave option if it's available. Roving bandits, deserters, and wild animals will all attack you so it's fine to whack them every time
