Cheap Food Supply
I'll keep it simple...Bread and Wine.
It only requires 2 ingredients to make, wheat and salt, and can be bought fairly cheap.
10 loafs of bread equal 40 food..20 = 80 etc.
You could carry a large amount without maxing out your weight capacity. Cheers

In the game War Tales, Socialism. Farmers do not grow what is in short supply at the market in order to sell it at a higher price. No, they follow the recommendations from Brussels, what shape cucumbers should be - thick or long. Therefore, flour is in short supply, and without salt it is impossible to eat at all. (Tell this to those dying of hunger):steammocking:
Food is not an issue in mid and late game and neither is the weight. And all you need is trappers fondue and pancakes anyway and some situational meals that give combat bonuses. For early i prefer wolf sausages and pork. Meat is easy to come by and salt is cheap.

I eat only apple pancakes:)
I remember Wartales when it didn't had vendors for salt. THAT was hard. Now having dinner ready for your troop is easy-breathing overall. There are some items which are rather short supply or available only later on (e.g. blueberries, honey), but things will get easier as mentioned before the higher your companions are.

All great info..thank you all for the feedback and tips.
I guess I gotta go back to the drawing board on this one, :steamfacepalm:
Guess I'll leave it up for a little bit, might be of help to others. Cheers
If you want an even cheaper food supply - go to Ormance as soon as you can, the very first town, right there by the entry - buy the rolling pin backpack item, and put it on anyone not using any other needed item ....

It not only gives you resources you will need in Ormance... and does so, no matter where you are, but also each person wearing one randomly generates loaves of bread .....I don't ask where they come from, but I will say that it is actually possible to use this as a revenue stream.... every 10 to 20 rests, I sold bread to keep my weight down

That's flipping hilarious :steamhappy:  :steamhappy:
Thank you for contributing that tip, gonna try it right away
Apple Pancake, then a quick trip to Vertruse for Eel Soup and some Goosenberg Wine.
Suddenly I can cook up Hill Delights for 40 food and 35% reduced fatigue, which means my troop consumes 35% less food.
Or in other words every third time I rest, I'd have had to rest 4 times otherwise. This also indirectly reduces my upkeep by 35%.

Sounds bugged
Rolling Pin's Bonus: "Has a chance to produce Rations or Bread during a Rest if assigned to the Cooking Pot"
Well it's not the first bug and not something worth fixing :steammocking:
