And would you ever consider Brewer useful for combat? I was thinking of recruiting with something like Strong and Confident recruit? That would give me 14 after the Willpower debuff of the profession - which will be negated by plus 1 buff rom the Compendium.
Thanks. I will have to look them up and see if they are worth it. I do recall Beer and Brandy being used for a lot of stuff and thus useful, but don't recall as much for cider or wine varieties.
Considering it worth? It's a mixed crit class, like Thief, Woodcutter & Angler, giving +6% Crit hit. So it's not bad and depending on what you want to do can be fun.
Though I think you need Master before you can start aging alcohol to icnrease their bonuses and I also think you can only age it once without the tavern dlc.
So you'll get a lot more from it with the DLC.
I doubt I'd ever get the DLC though - too much micro-management for ultimately just more cash and not much else. And frankly from what I see the cash makes the game trivial in terms of dealing with the economic pressures.
To your earlier questions I am not sure what exactly comes with the DLC. Wanna say maybe sparkling and absinthe? Out of the max rank beverages that is.
As for combat, there is already another thread of people debating crit. However, I personally do prefer crit and having 6% extra is nothing to scoff at. Especially when you consider any party pre level 12 (swordsman AOE crit buff ability is the best in the game and I will fight anyone who says differently...I'm joking but I do think its best). In reality slap brewer on a class and add in a stuffed cabbage, which is one of the most abundant craft-able food (two regions you can buy 10 of each material plus 5 you can buy in the second tavern in Vertruse) and you get 16-21% extra crit chance before anything else. I consider this really good. The willpower actually caps at -3 which is a massive YIKES. But you get one from the compendium and you can always either not care about the other two or get some gear with +willpower.
I still personally put it on the pugilist. My logic behind this is that, if they do get hit the extra constitution will help them not die in one turn and if they are going down in one turn then I'm not playing the game correctly. My current party is not level 12 so the crit chance is very much welcome.
