Golden key in the bandit frontier post
Hey, any idea on what to use the golden key that drops on the corpse of the bandit after you defeat the bandit group that guards the frontier post on mount altis ?

normaly there shoud be a (sometimes good hidden) chest in the same camp when it comes to golden keys. the new worn out keys are anotehr story, still seeking containers that can be opened by them.
be aware that the hotkey for outlining continers dont works on locked containers=no outlining on them as long they are locked.

I have a golden key as well. You can sell it, its made of gold after all... Just kidding.

The problem is that it gives you no hints, but if it were essential to any quest, it would. So I don't worry about that. And I am pretty sure I saw that chest somewhere, but only found a key when I no longer knew where it is.

My recommendation is to write all such information on the paper just like the trading prices. I should have done the same...

The golden key I had opens historian's cellar in Ludern north of Garussa clan and on the hill. But it is probably a different golden key.

for me it is 3 keys 3 types of locks you can't pick open so you just match keys with which ever one of that same type you want like i have found multiple of the same key and lock each lock consumes the key so it is like if i found 2 keys and 3 locks of 1 type i got choices to make till i find a 3rd one of those keys

i could be wrong but i have seen no indication that you can't use any gold key on any lock requiring one and same with the others

You need one golden key in Ludern ancient tomb for example. (but you also find one there).
You can definetly find more golden keys then you need to open all crates loked with them, I have 4 left after finishing 99 % of the game. Guess i did find about the double amount all in all, remember having used 4 or maybe 5.
The other keys ingame are mostly needed where you find them (except of the key to open the fishers crate). Dont have spare versions of them.
